Cynthia Coutu
Sommelier

Cynthia Coutu, a Canadian who has been living in Paris for over 30 years, has an impressive background. She earned a B.A. in Fine Arts (Photography) in Canada and then pursued a Masters in Art History at the Sorbonne in France. Her passion for wine and cheese led her to settle in France permanently.

After spending 20 years working at the Canadian Embassy in France and the OECD, an international organization, Cynthia decided to follow her true passion. She studied wine at L’Académie du Vin and L’École du Vin, achieving a Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 3 certification with Merit. Specializing in champagne, Cynthia regards it as the king of wines and the wine of kings.

In 2017, Cynthia founded Delectabulles, a champagne networking club for women. She hosts champagne workshops in Paris, judges wine contests, and takes great joy in introducing people to her favorite producers in Champagne. Notably, Cynthia exclusively uses champagnes made by women and visits champagne houses where women play significant roles, supporting women in the male-dominated wine industry.

Cynthia’s expertise has been recognized by major publications such as Le Monde, the New York Times, and Paris Match. She has received numerous accolades, including “Best Wine Tasting in Paris” by Expatriates Magazine, “Best Wine Experience in Paris” by Travel and Hospitality Awards, “Wine Expert of the Year” by Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards, and being named among the Top 50 Wine Experiences in the World by The Wine Magazine.

Currently, Cynthia is researching the role of women in the history of Champagne for a book project. You’ll have the pleasure of meeting her during our Let’s Eat Paris tour, where her passion and knowledge will undoubtedly enrich your experience.
