Let’s Eat Uzès is your French Culinary vacation in southern France. A perfect opportunity for food lovers of all skill levels to partake in an 8-day, 7-night French Culinary holiday filled with food, wine, and culture in the beautiful Gard Provencal.

What could be better than discovering French cuisine and its exquisite wine in France’s largest wine-producing region in the company of a French chef accompanied by passionate collaborators? We are ready to share our skills, knowledge, and culture with you during a delectable week in southern France. Our culinary advisor & chef, Eric Fraudeau brings over 40 years of culinary expertise to the kitchen. Our WSET-certified wine specialist, Frederic Duverger leads our wine education bringing decades of experience working in high-end restaurants and hotels to our wine program. Our expert travel coordinator, Yetunde Oshodi-Fraudeau, owner of Let’s Eat The World has put everything in place to provide you with a culinary vacation of a lifetime. You are on the doorstep of Provence and can feel and taste it in all aspects of this program! Our focus will be Mediterranean and Provençal cuisines but will include classic and modern regional French recipes.

Your 7 nights in Uzès will be spent at a private French country villa with other enthusiastic food and travel lovers. Group size is limited to 6-8 people maximum; you are welcome to come alone or accompanied by a loved one, either as a participant or a non-participating guest. Spaces are limited for guests, so please be sure to inquire before making your booking if you wish to add one.

The tour begins on a Saturday afternoon, time for rest before we gather for our welcome cocktail dinner. The mentioned 8 days include the Saturday arrival and departure. You will spend 6 exclusive days in hands-on French cooking classes, enjoy expert-guided tours (including both half-day and full-day activities), as well as partake in private guided tours of local producers, tasting wine, cheese, and olive oil, visiting local French markets, and learning about the history of this region of France. Activities will vary by season.

The full tour is in English and where necessary, translations are provided by an English-speaking guide! Let’s Eat The World creator and owner Yetunde Oshodi-Fraudeau created a memorable and delectable culinary holiday in France.

Frédéric Duverger is a certified WSET level 3 wine specialist and our wine specialist during our Let's Eat Uzès tour. He will guide our participants through the art of wine tasting and pairing and lead our wine excursion with local producers.

Karen Bonnet


Karen is our Let's Eat Uzès assistant. She is there to ensure that your time with Let's Eat The World is a memorable one. She'll pitch in to help our chef, get you off on your excursions and share with you her personal knowledge of the region, its food, and its wine.

** This is a hands-on class where you will get to participate in the preparation of numerous French specialties. Some recipes will require working collectively both for their realization as well as limit unnecessary food waste but don’t worry you will have plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty.

The examples of dishes we may do in class together are not fixed. All recipes are based on seasonal availability, the desires of our participants, as well as time constraints.

The program week is modifiable under the same conditions.

Let’s Eat Uzès! Week in Uzès Sample Program

The following is a sample program for our, Let’s Eat Uzès – Week in Uzès tour – a French cooking vacation in the South of France. The program is subject to change due to weather or the availability of our partners. You will receive the definitive program on the day of your arrival. Barring any changes in weather and the desires of the group, this final program will be what you can expect for the week. We ask that you try to be understanding about any slight modifications that will not affect your overall enjoyment of the program.

Activity Level: Moderate

The Let’s Eat Uzès tour involves a moderate level of physical activity, with most days including activities such as market visits, guided tours, and cooking classes which involve walking and standing. The winery tours and excursions will also require some walking and standing, but there are no highly strenuous activities planned. Participants should be comfortable with walking and standing for moderate durations and be able to enjoy leisurely activities.

Saturday arrival

DAY 1:

Group pick up from Avignon TGV at 3:30 PM to bring you to your French country villa

Arrival at the villa around 4:30 PM

Welcome dinner cocktail at around 6:30 PM at the guesthouse

To get you excited about the week ahead, we have arranged a “cocktail dinatoire” at the guesthouse. This is a chance to get to know your chef & guide and your fellow participants and discuss the wonderful week ahead. No need for other dinner plans.

DAY 2 (Sunday):

1st day of class – Market Day 1

After a continental breakfast, we’ll head off to explore the covered market of Nîmes where we’ll select not only what we will eat for today’s lunch but also get a crash course into the fresh produce that adorns the menus of prestigious French restaurants and our homes.

We’ll head to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Le Pont du Gard for an afternoon picnic of our market finds.

DAY 3 (Monday):

Private guided tour

Enjoy a continental Breakfast after which we’ll dive into our first full day of cooking preparing today’s lunch menu.

Excursion of the day: We head into Uzès center for a private guided tour of the premier duché de France (first duchy of France). We’ll hear the history and appreciate the architecture and private residences that were beautifully restored to their medieval and renaissance glory.

Optional light dinner at the house or evening free.

DAY 4 (Tuesday):

Wine appreciation day

Start the day with a French continental breakfast at the guesthouse.

Winery Tour – Discover the wines of our region with a visit to two of our local wineries rich with tradition and a passion for good quality wines. Our WSET wine educator will be your guide on this full-day tour. You’ll visit one winery in the morning after which you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a restaurant selected by our wine specialist.

After lunch, your wine guide will take you to explore a second winery and discover more unique wines of the region.

Optional dinner at the guesthouse or evening free. If preferred we would be happy to offer suggestions for any dinner reservations or you can refer to our restaurant suggestions.

DAY 5 (Wednesday):

Market day in Uzès

The morning will start with a French continental breakfast at the guesthouse. We’ll then head off to Uzès’s “marché des producteurs” (Farmer’s market), taking place on the Place aux Herbes. Take in this beautiful medieval city and shop like a local with chef Eric, for seasonal produce to take back to the kitchen. You will prepare a 4-course luncheon and also prep for tomorrow’s outing. After our lunch break, we take you to visit a working farm where they make the best cheese in the region. Get ready for some chèvre cuteness.

DAY 6 (Thursday):

Déjeuner sur l’herbe

Start the day with a French continental breakfast before an early morning of bread-making. Bake baguettes we’ll take along with us and get excited for the fabulous picnic lunch that you’ve prepared. You will be whisked off to a secluded location for a casual and delicious afternoon.

DAY 7 (Friday):

Final cooking day
The morning will start with a French continental breakfast at your French country guesthouse. The lesson of the day including preparing lunch. We’ll break just after lunch so you are free to rest or explore.

For our final evening together, we’ll enjoy a quick apéro before we head off for a fabulous dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.

DAY 8 (Saturday):

Departure Day

A French continental breakfast will be served at the guesthouse before check-out and pick up at 10 am for the return to Avignon TGV.

    Bonjour! Mais oui! French is the spoken language in France as you know but rest assured that your guide and chef) both speak fluent English. All your cooking instructions will be in English.

    No, our tours are designed for culinary enthusiasts of all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced cook, you will find the activities both enjoyable and educational. There is always something to learn.

    Absolutely! Our tours attract both solo travelers and groups. They are a great way to meet new people who share your passion for food and travel. Our tours are deliberately kept small for an intimate experience but you also have plenty of me time as you desire. We won’t leave anyone behind! 😉

    Yes, while we can not guarantee a shared room to our solo travelers if you choose a shared room option, we will match you with another interested solo traveler of the same gender. As stated, it is not something we can guarantee but we will do our best to accommodate your request.

    Most of our participants arrive at Paris at Charles de Gaulle airport from which you may be able to catch the TGV going to Avignon TGV station. Depending on where you are traveling from, you may also find options to arrive in Marseille, Nice, or even Nîmes airports. To check the best options for travel, try using sites like Skyscanner.net and/or Rome2Rio.com.  A grouped complimentary pickup is offered from Avignon TGV at 3:30 pm on the tour’s starting date.

    Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. Visa requirements vary by country and nationality. We recommend checking with your local embassy or consulate for the latest travel advisories.

    It’s always good to have at least a little cash with you when you travel to France but rest assured – there are plenty of ATMs at the airports and train stations as well as in the center of Uzès that you can use should you need additional cash. As a rule of thumb, when I arrive at a destination I tend to have the equivalent of between 50-100 euros of cash in whatever the local currency. The amount of money you may spend on your trip depends on you. You may wish to purchase souvenirs to take home and while the majority of vendors at the local market accept credit and debit cards, some may prefer cash for smaller amounts.
